Sugar Beet Coop Farm Camp
10/28/2021 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
During this Sugar Beet Farm Camp, Minnewaska FACS students will be engaged with CEO Scott Domm of the Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative in Renville, MN. Educator Tiffany Kobberman has been teaching about sugar beets leading up to Thursday’s Q&A session with Domm. They’ve covered planting, harvesting, processing and even did a beet sugar/raw sugar taste test in preparation for this Farm Camp experience. Students will be asking Domm questions about his facility and careers involved in the SMBSC operation.
Following Thursday’s session, students will be making their own candy with sugar in preparation for Halloween.
The Farm Camp event will wrap up with a Farm Camp Career Lesson to showcase how many agriculture careers are involved in bringing beet sugar from field to fork.
