About Us

Why Farm Camp?

The mission of Farm Camp is to share the agricultural story and increase agricultural literacy of K-12 students and educators through on-site agricultural experiences. The role of Farm Camp is serve as a connector of the classroom to an on-site experience. We believe increased agricultural literacy occurs through field experiences that allow students to personally interact with agriculture and meet the many faces behind the production of their food, fuel and energy.

Through a digital presence, Farm Camp aspires to build awareness of the industry and the multitude of career opportunities available for our future workforce. We will curate a larger, more impactful voice for agriculture by sharing Farm Camp experiences.

Farm Camp Field Day - Ag Education

Farm Camp works with educators and agricultural producers to create a dynamic hands-on experience for students. Farm Camp provides Ag Hosts a platform for them to share their story.

Farm Camp partners with Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) to supply educators with educational materials to best prepare students for their on-site experience. Through the use of MAITC lessons, students gain an understanding of a specific agricultural product to support learning prior to their on-farm experience. Pre-visit lessons set students up for a successful on-site experience by growing their agricultural literacy.

We believe a successful tour comes together through preparation.  We help Ag Hosts by providing video resources on how to deliver content to varying age levels.

In addition, Farm Camp provides Ag Hosts with a checklist that helps them successfully coordinate their Farm Camp experience.  A press release outline is another resource provided to help the Ag Host share their story and the success of the event locally.

We believe learning starts in the classroom prior to the Farm Camp experience. We provide high-quality lessons to educators to begin the conversation about agriculture and educate their students on a specific agricultural topic leading up to their Farm Camp visit.

In addition to lessons, Farm Camp also provides educators a checklist that helps them successfully coordinate their Farm Camp visit.  Following the Farm Camp experience, educators will have access to evaluations.
